Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows users access to articles and books not owned by the Richard D. Haines Medical Library at Baylor Scott and White—Temple. This service is provided free of charge to those who are officially affiliated with Baylor Scott and White Health and the Baylor College of Medicine.
Before placing an ILL request, please check our library catalog PrimoVE. Many books and articles are available in a full-text electronic format online.
To request an item through ILL, use the link below to create an account in Clio. As this account will also be used for all future requests in Clio, we advise that you remember your login name and password.
After creating an account, click on the "Request" tab at the top of the page, then choose either "New Article Request" or "New Book Request" and fill in the required information. The more information you provide us about an item (e.g., its title, authors, publication date), the more quickly we can locate, retrieve, and get it to you.
If you are experiencing difficulty navigating Clio, please send your ILL request to our email here, MedicalLibrary@BSWHealth.org.
How quickly you will receive a requested item largely depends on the thoroughness of the information provided about the item and the responsiveness of other libraries. Typically, requests for physical copies of journal articles are ready within two business days, whereas books take up to two weeks. However, we can often fulfill requests for electronic copies of journal articles on the same day.
If you have not received notification from us within 5 days, contact us directly at: MedicalLibrary@BSWHealth.org
By submitting requests, you agree to the following:
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyright material. Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse a copying order if, in its judgment, fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
